The Beautiful Sunken Cemetary

--philippines--cagayan--id=34799

If you have seen movies with a large cross in the middle of the sea, then you’re probably looking at the glorious sunken cemetery at Camiguin. Due to a fatal volcanic eruption of Mount Vulcan, the sea now hides the old capital, which was founded during the Spanish era.

According to local historians, Mount Vulcan had four historic eruptions. The first one was in 1827 but records of this eruption were nil. The second one was in 1862 when thick ashes from the crater flowed and overtook people who were fleeing towards the sea, resulting in 326 fatalities. The third one started in 1871. Previous experience had taught some of the Camiguin people of the dangerous whims of Mount Vulcan. Thus, when earthquakes were felt, they fled as far away as possible from the volcano, but some stayed behind. There were spasmodic eruptions and the people who fled decided to stay away until the time when the volcano finally subsided in 1875. But when they returned, they have lost their land and their friends.

The scene is simply dramatic as the sun rises and sets. Its amazingly beautiful and captivating to see such an intense view. Aside from that Camiguin also offers the best white beaches in the Philippines. You can reach Camiguin either from a boat or by plane.

Negros Occidental is also rich in its sugar canes. One of the places that really attracts me at Bais City aside from the dolphins is the Manjuyod White Sand BAr.

North of Dumaguete you can find the remarkable Bais/Manjuyod Sandbar . There you can appear to walk on water. Emerging like a white oasis in the midst of blue, this strip of land provides a great spot for recreation.

But during high tide it disappears. If you plan to prolong your fun, you can stay overnight in one of several cottages on stilts that are found nearby. You can easily reach the area by boat.

The Manjuyod Sand Bar is an estimated 600 hectare total strip area, including the submerged portions. Also known as the Sumapao Shoal, it is a certified tourist attraction because of its unique characteristic. Mindanao like any other islands in the Philippines is blessed with bountiful beaches and long stretches of powdery white beach. City of Zamboanga (Chavacano de Zamboanga/Spanish: Ciudad de Zamboanga). Zamboanga is a corrupted word for the Bahasa Sug jambangan, which means garden. The highly-urbanized city is located on the island of Mindanao in the Philippines. It is one of the first chartered cities and the sixth largest in the country. Zamboanga City is also one of several cities in the Philippines that are independent of any province, though it is usually grouped with Zamboanga del Sur for statistical purposes.

Zamboanga has a pink sand beach that would make you fall inlove and stay there for eternity. It is really unique since its quite different from others. It has pink sand which is found in just a few continents.

Base from ironwulf’s experience.

“Even before Boracay and Puerto Galera got its fame as some of the most popular beaches in the country, there was the Great Santa Cruz Islands and its famous rare pink sand beach stretching three miles across the island shores. An old coral vendor on the island reminisced the days when they would get a large number of tourist in the area and they would get considerable profits selling some of their wares. But since the kidnapping and abduction incidents in the nearby areas, people are now scared to visit the island and its popularity went downhill from there.”
