The Land Transportation Office will be issuing a new requirement for those wanting to get their new car registered — if you can’t show proof you’re going to have a decent garage for your new car, you cannot get a registration.

This new ruling follows after a spate of reports from citizens about private vehicles taking up space and making public roads their parking space.

This new ruling is actually an ordinance passed in Congress by Rep. Narciso D. Santiago III who says, “Streets become overnight parking lots as both sides are crammed with private vehicles. People should be disciplined enough to be able to furnish their vehicles with the appropriate parking space inside their own lots.” [Read Press Release here.]

It is up to the LTO to make sure that this is properly implemented.
