Marine Life in Apo Island

For those who did not get to spend their time relaxing in front of a beach last holy week, then there is still time for you to enjoy the holidays. Negros Island is rich in history, sites, and even dive spots. The even have a place where you watch dolphins visit our country. At Negros, there is island surrounded by white sands and relaxing ambiance.

If you’re visiting Dumaguete, you might want to take a visit at the island while you’re at it. You can reach Apo Island by boat from Zambuagita in Negros. There are also different resorts to visit while you’re in the island.

Also, Apo Island has a marine sanctuary for people to see and appreciate the wonders of nature. Sanctuaries. It is one of the world’s best and often referred to as the ‘Apo Model’. It has become an inspiration to the creation of hundreds of other marine sanctuaries in the Philippines. Few years ago, this marine life experienced hell through dynamite fishing which decreased the marine life. Although today, a lot of organizations are promoting marine life diversity and has helped the fishes restore its paradise.

Walk to The Sand Bar

Dolphin watching could be really fun since it’s not every day you get to see them. At Bais, Negros there are season’s wherein dolphins are always around.

Negros Occidental is also rich in its sugar canes. One of the places that really attracts me at Bais City aside from the dolphins is the Manjuyod White Sand BAr.

North of Dumaguete you can find the remarkable Bais/Manjuyod Sandbar . There you can appear to walk on water. Emerging like a white oasis in the midst of blue, this strip of land provides a great spot for recreation.

But during high tide it disappears. If you plan to prolong your fun, you can stay overnight in one of several cottages on stilts that are found nearby. You can easily reach the area by boat.

The Manjuyod Sand Bar is an estimated 600 hectare total strip area, including the submerged portions. Also known as the Sumapao Shoal, it is a certified tourist attraction because of its unique characteristic. It has been said that among the tourist spots in the vicinity, this one has the most potential.

Enjoy a relaxing walk towards the sand bar and see its best view from the top!
