Ravenala Cafe

IMGP4469

Summer is one of my favourite holidays during the year. You get a feeling of relaxation, heat and a whole lot of time dedicating yourself at the beach. It’s quite a surreal feeling when you’re surrounded by the sun, the beach and the warm sand with your loved ones. On one account, this feeling cannot be explained by mere words.

Just this weekend, I visited Moalboal to enhance my summer feeling again. We stayed at a private area which has a cafe bar and restaurant name Ravenala Cafe Bar. It has a very beach themed feeling which helps you appreciate your time dining in their cafe. Aside from that, you also have the beach in front of you to enjoy. The panoramic view of the resort gives you an aphrodisiac feeling towards life. The resort has a shifting sandbar near the resort and  is welcoming and charming.

Beautifully landscaped and well-kept as well, Ravenala offers accommodation in comfortable nipa hut like cottages. So while you’re at Bas Daku, Moalboal, I recomend that you visit this resort and enjoy sunset at west.

Go Fishing at Cebu Wetland

IMG_1433

Back in High School, Cebu Wetland was merely a place for people to visit to go boating and fishing. That’s about it. Today, Cebu Wetland has become a resort with 20 new rooms and a pool. You could also have a quiet dinner at their restaurant which is surrounded by water and live fishes.

Located in highway Tagonol, the resort has a swimming pool and a manmade fishpond with tilapia and catfish that visitors can catch. Visitors can also do so from the edge of the pond or from the three floating restaurants that jut out to the pond, or better still, from a pedal-paddle boat crafted by the resort owner, Engr. Julito Roden. Wetland has five of these pedal-paddle boats, which move around the pond by pedaling, or by paddling, or both.

Wetland is a dream being realized by Engr. Roden. When he was 16, he came to Cebu—he is from Southern Leyte—to continue his studies in the big city. He has been here since then, finishing mechanical engineering and landing in second place in the board exam in 1963. He also took up electrical engineering and passed the board, third place, in 1969.

the place has attracted visitors and has been catering to parties: baptismal, birthdays, and clan reunions. The place, open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., is crowded on weekends when, to further entertain its guests, the Synapse band plays from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m

There is no entrance fee. If you want, you can avail their boat rides for only P 50.oo which is already unlimited. The pool’s usage is P 100.00.

Enjoy The Rivers At Cagayan

pic3_large

In Cagayan de Oro, one of its highlights is the River Rafting. The river rafting allows you to play with the currents and enjoy a splash proof adventure with friends and family.

Cagayan River, often called as Cagayan de Oro River, is one of the rivers draining the northern central part of the island of Mindanao in the Philippines. The river has its headwaters in the Kalatungan Mountain Range found in the central part of the province of Bukidnon. It traverses the Municipalities of Talakag, Baungon and Libona, picking up tributaries along the way. It finally empties into the Macajalar Bay at Cagayan de Oro City in the Province of Misamis Oriental.

The river rafting can be most enjoyed by a group of people and is usually done during the day to see the 36o degree view of the river.

The stretch from Barangay Dansolihon to the city provides you with strikingly beautiful panoramic view of the river rocky walls, untouched vegetation and the sight of the resting haven of monkeys. It has breathtaking rapids that provide the more adventurous with thrills and challenges of rapids intervals not less than 10 – 15 minutes of each other. Cagayan de Oro river has everything that makes for a memorable experience with awesome roar and power of water cascading over rocks and boulders.

Upon Visiting Cagayan de Oro, I made it as my requirement to try the river rafting for a more dangerous yet adventurous day.

The Wellness in Yoga

yoga

It has been used by many and has been made as a source of healing and meditation. It can cure certain sickness and help people mentally. It keeps you physically fit and content by practicing a whole lot more of yoga.

Yoga refers to traditional physical and mental disciplines originating in India. The word is associated with meditative practices in Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism. In Hinduism, it also refers to one of the six orthodox schools of Hindu philosophy, and to the goal toward which that school directs its practices. In Jainism it refers to the sum total of all activities—mental, verbal and physical.

Yoga helps you in so many ways possible. – to overcome problems caused by excess fat, stress and disease. Yoga has objectives to cure themselves through a system of natural therapy without depending on medicines, to become physically fit, mentally relaxed and fully conscious. Another is, to learn new healthy systems of eating, exercise, drinking water and harmonious thought.

What I like about yoga is how you it can help you not just physically but also mentally. Im very happy that there is already a yoga here in Cebu which is very convenient for those who are interested in wellness.

Aside from this, you also get to appreciate its beauty mainly because they have are achieving environmental sustainability. They have created a foundation which is called Clam Seeding for Reeforestation.

It is the fastest and easiest method to repopulate the reef. Giant Clams are self sustaining with its mantle full of brown symbiotic algae which provides them food. They are also hermaphrodites (both male and female) and at certain age of maturity from 8-10 years, they spawn millions of sperms and eggs into the reef. Their sperms and eggs are fish food which will eventually attract a number of small fish in the area. Of course larger fish would then be attracted to the small fishes until we go up to the food chain until the reef becomes populated again.

So get a fresh start at Anaya cove and be one with Mother Earth this holidays.

Camotes Island

Camotes island holds on of the best attraction in Cebu. I realized that there is so much to see at Camotes. With its long stretches of white sands and clear water, i am bound to truly love the place.

IMG_1477

Lying 33 nautical miles northeast of Cebu City in central Philippines is a small piece of paradise — the archipelago of Camotes.

Four islands comprise the Camotes group: Pacijan (San Francisco town), Poro (Poro and Tudela towns), Ponson (Pilar town) and Tulang (an island barangay of San Francisco).

In prehistoric Philippines, the coastal settlements in these islands were at the crossroads of civilization: vibrant trading communities and important ports of call for artists and artisans. Southeast Asians and Chinese merchants have come to do business with local traders, mostly fishermen and farmers, as evidenced by a whole pre-Hispanic village excavated in Poro town in the 70s.

In 1521, a few days after Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan discovered the Philippines for Spain, history dawned over Camotes islands. After the historic Mass in Mazaua (Limasawa) Leyte, the expedition’s official chronicler Pigafetta wrote on his journal that the flotilla of five ships dropped anchor on the coast of Polo (Poro), near Pozon (Ponson) and Ticobon (Pacijan) islands, to wait for Kolambu, the chieftain of Mazaua. The group then proceeded to Zubu (Cebu) where Magellan erected a wooden Cross to symbolize Spain’s Christianization in the Far East.

Apart from history, you will really enjoy the beautiful and captivating Camotes Island.

The Plantation Bay

Plantation Bay a five star hotel and resort in Cebu is truly amazing. Aside from its classy interiors ad inviting pools, it is also eco conscious.

Plantation Bay provides free school bus service in the community, making it possible for hundreds of local children (who could not afford public transportation) to obtain a basic education. On a continuing basis, we support a number of local residents for vocational training. In 2004 Plantation Bay paid for the reforestation of about 120 hectares in Cebu’s highlands, and provided most of the funding to build and operate a day-care center for indigent families in South Cebu City.

The employees of Plantation Bay enjoy good salaries and benefits. Equally important, all staff members are treated with dignity and respect as part of the Plantation Bay Family. Training and career-advancement opportunities are provided to all staff members. A flattened and informal hierarchy system improves work performance and efficiency while providing a personal sense of satisfaction to every staff member. For these reasons, Plantation Bay is considered one of the best workplaces in the country. Guests quickly notice and appreciate our staff’s excellent morale and eagerness to please.

Our lovely artificial lagoon was built over a site consisting of barren rock, so no ecosystem was destroyed for the resort. To create fabulous white-sand beaches bordering the lagoon, mountain stone was quarried and crushed into fine grains. (A bonus is that, unlike real beach sand, ours is always cool to the touch, even under direct sun.) Thus, no natural beaches or sandbars were despoiled. The fine woods used in some furniture were recycled from old houses or church timbers. The wood ceilings seen in the lobby and many bedrooms and meeting rooms are actually made of ordinary plywood, painstakingly hand-stained to simulate the look of mahogany panels.

Extensive use was made of coconut timber, a widely-available renewable resource. Other coconut parts of little commercial value were used in decorations and finishes around the resort. The use of plastics was avoided wherever possible, a feature which also lessens fire and smoke hazards.

The resort simply makes heaven so much closer. It has well furnished and comfy rooms and the pools are one of the highlights. The resort also has a spa which is very relaxing.

The spa’s setting is uniquely charming, designed to resemble an 18th century Tokugawa Japanese village with its own thundering waterfalls, creek, and fog-like mist. Open your skin’s pores and float away your cares in a soothing hot spring; rejuvenate your body in a stimulating mineral bath; and enjoy a vigorous hydro-massage in the main waterfall basin.

Visit Cebu and always remember this beautiful location by the beach.
