Ancient schools are always seen as a respected status in the society. Silliman University also located at Dumagute is a huge campus. If you are not familiar with the location, you might end up losing your path. The University holds brilliant students and has a very huge area at Dumaguete.

Silliman University was founded in 1901 by Dr. David Sutherland Hibbard and Laura Crooks Hibbard through a generous donation of $10,000.00 from an American philanthropist, Dr. Horace Brinsmade Silliman. Silliman University is the first and oldest American university in the Philippines. Some famous landmarks in the university are:
Silliman Hall – The oldest building in Silliman University and in Dumaguete City. It is made from materials from a renovated theater in New York. It houses the anthropology museum of the university. Silliman Portals,the portals are the official insignia of the university. There are a lot of portals within the campus which represent different gateways to life. Some of them are: a.) the Gates of Opportunity; b.) the Gates of Knowledge; and c.) the Gates of Service.
Claire Isabel McGill Luce Auditorium – this 900-seater auditorium is the bastion for Culture and the Arts in the Visayas and Mindanao regions. Its architectural marvel is acknowledged all over the Philippines and also around the world. The Luce Auditorium is also dubbed as the “CCP of the South”.

If you plan to visit Dumagute, don’t forget to visit this historical place. It is also near their Boulevard and food establishments. The location is very enticing because you get to sit around the edges and wait for the sun to set. It is also very healthy to go jogging early in the morning. Dumaguete an island at the Visayas located in Philippines is destination you don’t want to miss. It is full of ancient history, monuments, resorts and so much more. In the City of Dumagute is a boulevard open to public that allows people from all walks of life to enjoy the beautiful scenery. Dumaguete also allow people to rent their motorcycles for P 200 / per hour. All you need to do is present a valid id.

The Dumaguete Boulevard or the Rizal Boulevard was named after the Philippine’s National Hero, Dr. Jose P. Rizal. Dr. Jose Rizal while on his way to his exile in Dapitan, passed by Dumaguete City and strolled along its beautiful and serene shores. This is one of the most beautiful and most captivating landmarks in the city.

The Boulevard stretch is immediately visible when coming into the Dumaguete port via any sea vessel. From the white lamp posts lining up the stretch to the stately trees swaying with the sea breeze, the Rizal Boulevard holds a big part in the city’s provincial charm and has become a very popular landmark.

From the airport, Rizal Boulevard is only a brief 15 minute ride. Several hotels (Bethel Guest House, Honeycomb Tourist inn, La Residencia Almar) and many restaurants (Shakey’s Pizza, Le Chalet, Mamia’s, Chin Long, Don Atilano, Coco Amigo) run along the strip. These, together with other business establishments (Globe Telecom, Bank of Commerce, Development Bank of the Philippines), has transformed the Rizal Boulevard into a bustling hotpot of commerce and tourism.

Dumaguete is such a beautiful location because it gives you a feeling of a Spanish era in the middle of the 21st century.
